Katja Mater and Marianne Vierø

In the study of habits and tools, the show will compile new, partly collaborative works that frame the amateur artist as a possible muse.

Katja Mater (b.1979, Hoorn) lives and works between Brussels and Amsterdam. Recent exhibitions include Umprum Gallery, Prague and the Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht (2017); Extra City, Antwerp and Long Division, Melborn (2016), ltd Los Angeles, KIOSK Gent (2015). Upcoming exhibitions include the Centraal Museum, Utrecht and Museum Marta Herford (2017). Mater was Artist in Resident at Wiels in Brussel (2014); LMCC, New York and Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2011); The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2006), and attended the artist institute De Ateliers in Amsterdam (2003 - 2005). Earlier this year she spent two months at Maison van Doesburg, Paris where she made her most recent film As Much Time as Space.

Marianne Vierø (1979, Copenhagen) works between Amsterdam, Berlin and Copenhagen. Recent solo exhibitions include “Dunk” at Ellen de Bruijne Projects, Amsterdam (2017); “Coat Concave” at die Raum, Berlin (2017); and “Glyph” at 427, Riga (2015). She has participated in group shows at Future Gallery, Berlin; De Vleeshal, Middelburg; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; and 1857, Oslo among others. In June Ellen de Bruijne Projects presented a solo of her work at LISTE Basel. Vierø has been a resident artist at Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam; Triangle Arts Association in NYC; and Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin.
